About

The Chemistree 5k will be held on Saturday, December 22nd at 10am. Location McLean High School.

Race Map is posted here!

To raise money for the Terry Moore Scholarship Fund, we've organized a 5k run/walk. The name chemis-tree is something Mr. Moore left behind for us to remember during the holiday season. Every December Mr. Moore brought in a tree and had students make chemistry-related ornaments. It was his way of being politically correct while still celebrating the winter season. Come join his friends, family and former students as we celebrate his life and legacy.

Who is Mr. Moore?

Mr. Moore was a teacher, a mentor, a father, and a friend. He died October 9, 2007 after battling brain cancer since May of 2005. The community lost a great role model and compassionate human being. His former students have organized the Terry Moore Scholarship Fund to continue his legacy at McLean High School as well as the greater community.

Our Mission

The purpose of the Terry Moore Scholarship Fund is to embody the values and legacy of Terry Moore. We will embody his passion, dedication, and kindness in the form of educational scholarships. Our intention is to carry on his legacy at McLean High School, where he taught for seven years, as well as to support his family, who showed unbounded support for his endeavors in the classroom as well as in the greater community. We will achieve this by awarding a scholarship to a graduating senior who is entering a scientific field, as well as by helping to establish college funds for his three children. Any endeavor of this organization will put Terry Moore's values first and attempt to share the compassion that he showed to all of his students with the greater community.
